"Not for Profit,
Not for Charity, But for Service"
"Liverpool Central Schools Federal Credit Union was chartered
in December 1956 to serve the Board of Education of the Liverpool
Central School District, employees of the district, credit
union employees and the immediate families of such organizations.
It was later amended to include employees of the Liverpool
Public Library, Junior & Senior Liverpool High School
students and each of their immediate family members. The
current membership is over 3000 members and growing."
Unlike other financial institutions, a credit
union is a "not for profit" financial cooperative. Once you
deposit money into a share account at the credit union, you
become a member and an owner. Every member is an owner with
an equal vote. There are no stockholders, and earnings are
returned to the members in the form of lower loan rates, higher
rates on savings or invested back into the credit union in
the form of additional services requested by the membership.
Credit unions are the only type of financial institution that
are democratically controlled: one member, one vote. |
